Original Item: Only One Available. A Griswold bag, also called a Cover Jump in heavy canvas OD # 7 was designed to carry an M1 Garand rifle disassembled into three sections: barrel, stock, and trigger group. The bags were also used to carry the M1 Carbine, a Thompson SMG or a M3 Grease gun. The bag was then attached to the T-5 Parachute harness using a carabiner sewn onto the bag. Wartime pictures also show the bags being wedged behind the harness to make it more comfortable to jump with.
This example has a full closure TALON zipper. On the rear side is the regulatory marking contract 8300-44 (44 is the manufacturing date) 2650.
These bags were distributed to all airborne divisions engaged in Europe (17th, 82nd and 101st AB).
This example is missing the silver snap hook on the reverse which attached the bag to a metal loop mounted high on the right chest portion of the main jump harness.
Overall it is offered in very good condition.
